Pre-Binned Intel Rocket Lake-S CPUs Are Now Available, Core i5-11600K Starts at 250 USD

Enthusiasts are curious to know the overclocking potential of new processors from AMD and Intel. Luckily, there is a retailer, Silicon Lottery who specializes in the binning of AMD and Intel processors. Once the processors are released, the retailer thoroughly tests the processor to verify how much performance increase the processor offers through overclocking.

Silicon Lottery took 3 weeks to offer the first pre-binned Intel Rocket Lake-S CPUs for sale. The retailer offers the following processor: the flagship Core i9-11900K and the Core i5-11600K.

Silicon offers the Core i5-11600K in three pre-binned variants. The entry-level variant is priced at $250 and offers a 4.8 GHz all-core clock speed with a requirement voltage of 1.45V which is 200 MHz higher than the stock processor. Silicon claims that Core i5 operating at 5Ghz boosted clock speed can be purchased by adding $10, while the 400 MHz guaranteed higher boost is for $340.

The Intel Core i9-11900K is also offered in three variants. The pre-binned variant operating at 4.9 GHz costs 620 USD. You can also achieve these overclock speeds with a Core i9-11900K bought from any other retailer. The pre-binned variants operating at 5.0 GHz and 5.1 GHz clock speeds are priced at 700 and 880 USD, respectively. The retailer said that 29% of all tested samples achieved 5.1 GHz clock speeds.

You should know that overclocking Core i9-11900K at above 5 GHz on all cores will produce heat and increase the power input; hence proper water cooling and a high-quality power supply are recommended.
