AMD has not announced the release date for its Ryzen 9000 series, which will include Zen5 cores. Currently, the company is preparing samples for reviewers, whose opinions will be highly anticipated by enthusiasts looking forward to this new update.

Kyle from the Bitwit channel displayed a sample of the Ryzen 9 9950X processor, the flagship model of the upcoming generation. This sample is probably the same one that the PCWorld team brought to his studio during a podcast, initially claiming they “found it” on a plane. It seems to be one of the first review samples available. Only a photo was shown, and the CPU wasn’t tested in an AM5 motherboard during the podcast, so no new benchmarks were shared.

Motherboard manufacturers are preparing for the upcoming launch of AMD’s Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000-series processors. Most top platform makers have either already updated some of their motherboards to support the new processors or are about to. Notably, MSI is among the first to label some of its AM5 motherboards with a special “AMD Ryzen 9000 Desktop Ready” sticker.

Additionally, HXL posted a photo showing three of the four new Ryzen CPUs from an unnamed reviewer, confirming these are the review samples received. AMD often ships only specific SKUs, and most reviewers usually get two. However, larger media outlets often manage to acquire the missing SKUs. In this case, the photo is missing only the Ryzen 9 9950X.

AMD is unofficially expected to release its Ryzen 9000 series on July 31. The review embargo might be lifted a day earlier, although this isn’t guaranteed. The timing of the embargoes could depend on the readiness of the AM5 platform and whether reviewers have received the final BIOS updates. If the final updates are provided, reviewers would have more than two weeks for thorough testing.
