Samsung has unveiled its latest lineup of Odyssey OLED gaming monitors at CES 2024. These new models, namely the Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SD model), Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD model), and Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD model), promise the performance and visual clarity sought after by gamers.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G9
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SD model) takes center stage with its 49″ curved screen design, ultra-wide form factor, and 32:9 aspect ratio. Boasting a resolution of 5120 x 1440 (DQHD), a rapid 240Hz refresh rate, and a swift 0.03ms GTG response time, the G9 excels in performance. Noteworthy software enhancements include integration with Samsung’s Smart TV and Samsung Gaming Hub functions.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G8
Standing out in the collection is the Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD model), marking Samsung’s debut of a 32″ flat-screen Odyssey display. With a 3840 x 2160 (UHD) resolution and a user-friendly 16:9 aspect ratio, it caters to those who prefer straight screens over curved or ultra-wide designs. Boasting a 240Hz refresh rate, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, and compatibility with AMD Freesync Premium Pro, this monitor offers a compelling package.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G6
Finally, we have the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD model), featuring a premium 27″ design with a flat screen and a conventional 16:9 form factor. Boasting a resolution of 2560 x 1440 (QHD) and an impressive 360Hz refresh rate, this monitor is tailored for eSports enthusiasts. It shares the AMD Freesync Premium Pro support found in the other models.
The trio of Samsung Odyssey OLED 2024 gaming monitors includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB hub, and a DisplayPort 1.4 input. While the absence of DisplayPort 2.1 is disappointing, it seems we’ll have to wait for later in the year for those upgraded designs. These monitors also provide VESA mount compatibility and a Height-Adjustable Stand (HAS) offering tilt, swivel, and pivot control points.
An additional noteworthy aspect of the Samsung Odyssey OLED 2024 gaming monitor series is the inclusion of Core Lighting+ technology in all three models (G9, G8, G6). This feature emanates ambient light from the monitor’s rear, enhancing the immersive experience during gaming or movie watching.
