The chip for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S and A 2022 Series will now support ray tracing acceleration.
Thanks to the partnership of AMD and Samsung, Radeon graphics will now be brought to the ultra-mobile form factor. The Samsung Exynos of the next generation will now be equipped with a graphics subsystem based on RDNA2 which will support ray tracing acceleration to some degree.
Samsung Exynos confirmed the news on their social media handle on Weibo(a Chinese media platform). The ray-tracing technology will take smartphone gaming to the next level. TheRDNA2 GPU in Exynos 2200 will be featuring 384 Stream Processors and 6 Compute Units. Assuming that the design is similar to desktop discrete GPUs, this mobile implementation of the architecture will feature 6 Ray Accelerators.
The Exynos 2200 with a codename of “Pamir” will now be an 8-core chip. There will be 1 high-performance core, 3 mid-sized cores, and 4 cores with high-efficiency. The integrated RDNA2 GPU, on the other hand, is said to be given a codename of Voyager.
