According to the latest rumor, Sony might host a PlayStation Showcase by the end of next month, potentially unveiling the new console. This information hasn’t been confirmed by Dealabs, but it originates from Jeff Grubb, who is regarded as a reliable source.
Dealabs offers further details, stating they’ve seen the packaging for the console, which is now confirmed to be named the PS5 Pro. Although they can’t share a direct image due to copyright restrictions, they have provided a drawing of the design.
The PS5 Pro is reported to have a design resembling the PS5 Slim that was launched a few months ago. It will be white, with two USB Type-C ports on the front and a power button. The console’s chassis is expected to have three black stripes in the middle and be slightly thicker.
A notable detail is that the device observed by the leakers lacks a physical disc drive, though this could be specific to the model they encountered. The PS5 Pro is not expected to come with new controllers and will instead include the same DualSense controllers as the standard PS5.
The PS5 Pro is rumored to be equipped with 8 Zen 5 CPU cores and new RDNA 3 graphics, featuring RDNA 4 Ray Tracing acceleration. The updated APU is said to have 60 Compute Units, an increase from the 36 found in the standard PS5, and 16GB of memory running at 18 Gbps, up from the current model’s 14 Gbps.
It is speculated that the PS5 Pro could be announced in September, though the exact launch date has not been confirmed. Sony is likely targeting a release during the holiday season.
