Colorful is aiming to enter the “premium motherboard” market with its latest high-end Z790 products, and the new iGame Vulcan motherboards are likely to raise the company’s standards, particularly in design and build quality.
The company is introducing two new iGame Z790D5 Vulcan V20 motherboards, available in black “X” and white “W” versions. At first glance, these motherboards resemble ASUS’s high-end ROG “Crosshair” and “Maximus” models, but they offer much more beyond that.
Colorful has named its upcoming motherboards the iGame Z790D5 Vulcan V20 X for the black model and the iGame Z790D5 Vulcan V20 W for the white model, with both versions having identical specifications. These motherboards use an E-ATX form factor, measuring precisely 305mm × 277mm. They feature a 19+1+1 phase enhanced power design with 105A Dr MOS power phases, ensuring a smooth experience, particularly in overclocking scenarios.
The Colorful iGame Z790D5 Vulcan V20 motherboards are equipped with four DIMM slots that support DDR5-7800 MT/s (OC) memory. For storage, they include one PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 SSD slot and three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 SSD slots, along with six SATA III hard drive interfaces, offering plenty of connectivity options for various storage devices.
Design-wise, Colorful has done an impressive job with these motherboards. They feature protective plates on both the front and back, which not only provide a sleek appearance but also enhance heat dissipation. The motherboard includes one PCIe 5.0×16 slot and two PCIe 4.0 x4 slots, which are concealed under the front protective plate. Additionally, Colorful has incorporated a unique heatsink for the VRMs with a reflective finish, although it does not have any lighting.
In terms of connectivity and networking, the iGame Z790D5 Vulcan V20 motherboards come with two RJ45 network ports and support WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Overall, the upcoming iGame Z790D5 Vulcan V20 motherboards from Colorful are excellent choices for consumers seeking a high-end option in the Z790 range, offering both aesthetics and quality in one package. The flagship motherboards are expected to be available by September 2, though pricing details have not yet been released.
