During its most recent earnings call EA suggested that the next Star Wars Battlefront game will be releasing around fall of 2017. We already know that EA did confirm that there will be a another Star Wars Battlefront game, but during this most recent call EA’s CFO, Blake Jorgensen, said we’re looking at a release “a year from now” when asked about the next Battlefront title, and whether it could offset the recently released Battlefield 1.
Yes, we have talked obviously about the next Battlefront coming a year from now. We’re working very hard on making sure that is an extremely deep and engaging offering. We’ve talked about an action title that’s not yet announced, but we’re very excited, and a good chance that will fall into FY18. I’m not yet giving guidance for FY18, so I want to be careful that we don’t get overboard, but we’re confident that we should be able to comp a strong year this year.
During EA’s 4th quarter earnings call for FY2016 back in May, Jorgensen said “We’ll most likely have one Star Wars title a year for the next three to four years”. He added “Next year we’ll see Star Wars battlefront back with bigger and better worlds, because we now have the new movies to work off of, not just the historical movies that we used before”.
If you remember Star Wars Battlefront was released last year for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. It’s fourth and final DLC, Star Wars: Battlefront Rogue One will release this December around the release of the Star Wars Rogue One movie.
