Tribit StormBox Micro 2 Portable Wireless Speaker Review

Setup & Usage

Getting the StormBox Micro 2 is very easy, pretty much like any other Bluetooth speaker out there. Press in the power button and wait for the audible tone that lets you know it is on. Then press in the Bluetooth button to put it in pairing mode. Once it pairing mode it will show up as “Tribit StormBox Micro 2” on your device. Simply select it and the pairing process will complete and you are good to go.

So the most important thing when it comes to a Bluetooth speaker is the sound. I’ve reviewed quite a lot of different Bluetooth speakers over the years and I’ve only really been impressed with a few in terms of sound. Most are just slightly better than your phone’s built-in speaker and typically have a very tinny sound to them. Well I was presently surprised when I started using the StormBox Micro 2 as it sounded amazing. I was actually taken back at how good and full the sound was for such a small speaker. It definitely blew some of the larger Bluetooth speakers I have away.

While most people will likely control their media and volume with their phone it was nice to have the raised control buttons on the speaker itself. These make it so you don’t have to reach in your pocket for your phone and this is especially helpful if you are on a hike or bike ride. It is also worth noting that the speaker is IP67 dust and water resistant. Now I wouldn’t be taking this speaker into the pool with you, but it will survive say a rainy day out on a hike.

I also went ahead and tested the rubber strap on the speaker, connecting it to the shoulder strap on my backpack. It held in place just fine and I really was not all that worried about it falling off. As I said earlier while the strap holds into place tightly if you are doing any type of extreme sports I wouldn’t 100% trust the strap staying in place.
