Final Thoughts
There are so many companies that try and put everything possible on a gaming keyboard. While this may appeal to some people, other people hate it. Not everyone needs extra macro keys, USB ports, function keys, and massive wrist rests. For those people the Poseidon Z RGB is the perfect fit. It is that no-frills keyboard that still gives you a great feel, functionality and of course the RGB backlighting.
The keyboard itself is very solid and that is evident as soon as you pick it up. This solid feel shows the build quality and also means that the keyboard is not going to go flying when you are in an intense gaming session. Tt eSPORTS uses their own mechanical switches on this keyboard (available in Blue and Brown flavors) which I really enjoyed using. The Brown switches that were on our keyboard felt great and were not as loud and clicky as the Cherry MX Blue’s that I was using on my previous keyboard. Typing and gaming on the keyboard is very fluid and I don’t feel as if I am going to miss a keystroke.
As far as gaming functionality goes you do have the ability while in gaming mode to completely remap the keyboard, add macros, shortcuts, and disable certain keys. You can also record macros on the fly, which means you don’t have to go out of your game to change something. The keyboard has NKRO mode so you know all of your keystrokes are going to be recorded as well. You have up to 5 different profiles available in the software for different games.
One of the big selling points of the keyboard is the RGB backlighting, which I have to say looks beautiful. There are 4 different brightness levels as well as 5 different lighting modes which allow you to really show off the keyboard. Each key is individually backlit, so you can make each key a different color if you want and since it is RGB you have 16.8 million colors to choose from.
The only real downside to this keyboard is that the software is a little sluggish and can become unresponsive at times. This is something that Tt eSPORTS can hopefully fix with future updates. Also the keyboard does not have the fit and finish of some keyboards that have thicker braided cables and gold-plated USB connectors.
Overall this is a great keyboard and one we can truly recommend if you do not need all the crazy functionality of other keyboards. Right not you can pick up the keyboard at our favorite online retailer for $119.99. ThinkComputers gives the Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z RGB Gaming Keyboard a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award.
