In a recent interview with Axios, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that the $70 price point would now be the norm for the publisher’s big PS5 and Xbox Series X/S releases. This would be a 16.6% increase over the $60 ($59.99) that was normal for AAA games only a few years ago. This means that the “Standard Edition” of games would start at this price and premium editions and season passes would be priced higher.
This new $70 pricing will go into effect for the company’s upcoming “Skull and Bones”, which comes out in November. Now this is not the first time we’ve seen a game at this price. NBA 2K21 was actually the first title to be $70 for the standard edition and that was back in August of 2020.
