Viotek GN24C 24-inch Curved 1080p 144 Hz Monitor Review

Setup & Usage
Getting the GN24C setup is very easy, just connect the power cable and DisplayPort cable and you are good to go. It is worth noting that there is no cable management built into the stand so you will have two cables coming out from under it, although you can clean them up a bit with cable ties.

Once you have everything connected just power on your PC and you are good to go. Now you do not have to install any software or drivers, but you definitely want to make sure the display is running at the advertised 144 Hz refresh rate. When you first go into the NVIDIA settings under the Ultra HD, HD, SD resolutions it does show 1920 x 1080, but will only give you a refresh rate of 100 Hz. If you scroll down to the PC resolutions and select 1920 x 1080 you’ll see 144 Hz. You definitely want to set this screen at 144 Hz!

The 1080p resolution is a good resolution to work in, although you are not going to be able to side-by-side windows all that great or have as much room to work with in Lightroom and Premiere. If you want a larger area to work with I would suggest Viotek’s own GN27D which is a 27-inch display with a 1440p resolution. Viotek uses what they call a “bezel-less” design, which cuts the side bezels of the display down, which I am a big fan of.

Now let’s get into what you all want to know about, gaming. I’ve been playing mostly Fortnite and Overwatch on the GN24C, both at 144 Hz and I have to say it is a real treat. If you are using to gaming at 60 Hz and move up to 144 Hz you are going to be pleasantly surprised. I did not notice any type of lag, ghosting, or screen tearing when gaming, everything was as smooth as butter. There are a few different gaming modes built into the monitor like FPS, RTS, and Game. You also have Standard, Text, and Movie. I kept the display on the “Game” setting most of the time. Also for all of those AMD gamers out there this display does support FreeSync.

The 24-inch screen size in general is pretty much spot-on for gaming. You have a perfect view of the screen and you do not need to move your head at all to see the entire screen. Obviously if you are moving your head you could miss something on the screen and get killed or miss that headshot.
