Previously, the Twitter user @dylandkt aka Dylan said that Apple’s MacBook Pro and Mac mini will arrive in Q4 2021 and will be powered by the M1X. As per the previous specifications, the M1X will have 10 cores where 8 will be responsible for performance while the remaining 2 cores will handle power efficiency.

As for the M2, a previous report stated that it will be an improved version of M1. It was mentioned that it will come with eight processor cores, and possibly nine or ten graphics cores. Apple can allow M2’s performance cores to operate at a higher frequency, but all info is not available at this time.

There is a possibility that it might have a lighter chassis with a MagSafe charging port, and a couple of USB 4 ports. Reportedly, the new MacBook Pro models are arriving with mini-LED screens so Apple might use the advanced display technology on the 2022 MacBook Air too.
