The handheld gaming market has expanded significantly, with nearly all major brands now offering or planning to introduce systems for gamers. This surge in growth has been driven largely by improvements in integrated graphics, particularly due to AMD’s RDNA2 and newer architectures, which have been transformative for the industry.
However, Intel is beginning to enter this market as well. With the Xe-LPG-based Core Ultra 100 series, only a few devices were introduced, and many of them never made it to market. The MSI Claw was likely Intel’s most notable success in this area, but it was released at a high price and didn’t gain much popularity.
MSI sealed the fate of the Claw by unveiling a successor equipped with the Lunar Lake CPU just three months later. This new product is expected to launch soon, as Intel is announcing its latest CPU series today. However, the Claw’s successor might not be the only device to feature this architecture.
Acer Predator is teasing the reveal of new gaming products on social media, set to be unveiled today, September 4th. The Acer Predator Facebook account has posted several teasers for the IFA press event, all highlighting Intel hardware. This indicates that the upcoming gaming hardware launch is likely not connected to Qualcomm or AMD.
The handheld market is booming, with four new brands launching devices just this year. Unfortunately, some of these products, such as certain Chinese systems showcased at Computex and earlier, never make it to market. If Acer enters the handheld market with Intel hardware, it would be a major victory for the company, especially as it prepares to unveil its Xe2-LPG integrated graphics.
Time to command the games, break the limits, and double the action with the newest gaming gear announcements from Predator. Mark you calendars 4.9.2024.#NextAtAcer #IFA2024 pic.twitter.com/dNFdA1z8hN
