Benchlife has addressed recent rumors about the potential rise in power consumption for the upcoming GeForce RTX 50 series. With strong industry connections, especially among AIB partners, the site confirmed that development is underway for a cooling module designed to handle 600W. However, they clarified that this 600W figure represents the maximum heat dissipation capacity, not the actual Total Graphics Power (TGP).

The site also reports that NVIDIA is currently working on five different designs, with the top-tier model, the RTX 5090, expected to consume 550W. The RTX 5080, on the other hand, is projected to have a power consumption of 350W. It’s important to note that leaker kopite7 had previously suggested 600W for the RTX 5090 and 400W for the RTX 5080, though

Not to forget the RTX 4090 Founders Edition cooler was built to handle up to 600W, the maximum power limit that users can activate through settings. As a result, the rumored design of the RTX 5090 may not need a much more advanced cooling system than what is already in use.

It’s also noteworthy that NVIDIA is expected to finalize the design of the RTX 5090, along with a variant specifically for the Chinese market, the RTX 5090D, by the end of this month. Once this is completed, we can likely anticipate a fresh round of leaks, which will likely be more credible and detailed.

Benchlife’s information implies that NVIDIA may also release a new version of the RTX 5080, with the RTX 5080D being exclusive to markets impacted by U.S. export laws. It’s worth noting that this card is rumored to be 10% faster than the RTX 4090, making it likely to fall under the same sanctions.

However, this doesn’t confirm a release date. While some sources suggest the launch could be delayed until 2025, others believe NVIDIA may unveil the new series by the end of this year.

The news is indeed a bit confusing. According to information from the module manufacturer, there was indeed a 400W NVIDIA cooling module case earlier, but it is currently in the cancellation or suspension stage. As for the 600W cooling module case, it has never stopped from the beginning until now. The module manufacturer also confirmed that NVIDIA currently has 5 GeForce RTX graphics card cases in progress.

Perhaps 400W and 600W refer to the maximum cooling capacities of the radiators. In reality, the TGP (Total Graphics Power) of the GeForce RTX 5090 and GeForce RTX 5080 are 550W and 350W, respectively.
