HP is launching a new laptop today named the OmniBook Ultra Flip 14, which is powered by Intel’s top-tier Core Ultra 200V processor.
The OmniBook has a convertible design, allowing it to fold into a tablet, making it a 2-in-1 device. It comes in a fresh dark grey color with a black frame surrounding the screen. The display is a 14-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
A major improvement in HP’s lightweight laptop lineup is the addition of the new Core Ultra 200V processor, known by its codename “Lunar Lake.” Intel revealed this new processor series just yesterday, and these laptops will be the first to hit the market later this year.
The OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 is a high-end device that offers two processor options: the Core Ultra 5 266V and the Core Ultra 9 288V. Both models feature 8 cores, but they vary in clock speeds, graphics capabilities, and NPU performance. With the CPU, GPU, NPU, and memory all integrated into a single package, there’s ample space for other components. However, the battery capacity is limited to 64 Wh, and no details have been provided regarding the cooling system.
The first SKU of the OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 will come with different memory options, offering either 16GB or 32GB. Since Lunar Lake processors have integrated memory, the memory configuration cannot be upgraded once selected.
In addition to the Ultra Flip 14, HP is also releasing the OmniBook X, powered by the Snapdragon X Elite, and another version of the Flip 14 with the Ryzen AI 300. This shows HP’s strategy of offering a wide range of “AI” PCs for this generation.
The official press release states that the OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 will be priced at $1,499. While this is on the higher end and might not be a typical recommendation, its value remains uncertain since there are no reviews yet. Another factor to keep in mind is the unusual placement of the USB ports on the rear edges, which could potentially create problems due to their proximity to the hinges.
