Yesterday AMD launched their brand new Radeon R9 Fury X graphics card. Within 24 hours of the launch every single SKU on the market has been sold out! Big online retailers like Amazon and Newegg are going through the restocking process and the cards are listed as “Out of Stock” on their websites.

This could either mean two things. First that the demand for the card is extremely high, or secondly that there is a rather limited initial quantity of cards available to retailers. We had hinted a few weeks ago that the initial supply of Fury X cards would be very low. If you look on Amazon and Newegg all of the cards are out of stock.

If you are able to find a Fury X card in stock at any online retailer consider yourself lucky. Right now the card remains at a price of $649, we could see retailers bump up the price if demand and availability remains high.

  1. And the big online retailers sold out in 20 minutes; sadly, it was the exact 20 minutes I was commuting to work. 🙁

  2. Because they didn’t make very many of them. I suspect AMD is losing money on every card.
