The AMD RX 8000 GPU is anticipated to launch by the end of 2024. Meanwhile, new RDNA 3 graphics card options are still emerging. Recently, ASRock introduced the Creator models for the RX 7900 GPUs, which feature a more compact design and a blower-style cooling system for high-end Radeon cards. While these new models reduce slot size, they remain quite noisy.
The Creator series aims for simplicity. It features a straightforward front plate with a single blower fan on the right side and a large opening on the IO side for airflow. The back is also minimalistic, with much of the PCB exposed at one end, relying on the chassis airflow for cooling.
The Creator series GPU maintains a thickness of just two slots and measures 312 x 111 x 39 mm, though the length extends by 30 mm due to the power connector. These AMD GPUs utilize the 16-pin power connector from the ATX 3 PSU standard, previously seen on Nvidia GPUs that had issues with melting. However, these models feature the updated 12V-2X6 connector, which is reportedly more robust. As long as the connector isn’t bent and a good distance is maintained, there shouldn’t be any problems.
This design supports cluster installations without significantly compromising airflow, making it more suitable for server environments and enterprise applications rather than home gaming setups. ASRock states that these GPUs are engineered for efficiency, featuring a vapor chamber cooling system and a 0dB mode during low usage. ASRock Creator models are currently listed on Newegg, but neither is in stock.
