ASUS Introduces Radeon RX 6600 DUAL V3 Graphics Card

Not only are the RX 6750 GRE and RX 6500 XT models from the RDNA2 desktop lineup receiving updates, but ASUS is also launching a new RX 6600 DUAL V3. This custom version is built on AMD’s cut-down Navi 23 graphics processor.

Despite arriving nearly three years after the RX 6600 non-XT graphics card, ASUS asserts it utilizes “the latest RDNA2” architecture, which isn’t entirely accurate. AMD has since introduced a new series and even a successor to this model (RX 7600). However, the previous-generation RX 6600/6500 models clearly target the sub-$200 price range, whereas the newer RDNA3 models cost approximately $50 more.

The new card is named simply DUAL V3. Previously, there was a DUAL card using this SKU, but it featured a completely different design. Interestingly, the newer RDNA3 models appear to adopt a design closely resembling that of the last-generation products. Therefore, the V3 would mark the first Radeon GPU to incorporate an updated DUAL cooler design.

The V3 is slightly smaller compared to the V1. However, similar to the original model, it lacks factory overclocking capabilities, despite its description mentioning an OC mode that seems nonsensical.

Although the timing of ASUS’s launch of this model may raise some questions, it’s difficult to criticize the addition of a new card to a relatively limited lineup. For Radeon, expanding the range of custom GPUs is consistently beneficial.
