be quiet! Light Base 500 LX Case Overview
The Light Base 500 LX is currently the smallest case in the Light Base series behind the Light Base 900 and Light Base 600. The official dimensions of the case are 432 x 305 x 410mm (LxWxH) and it weighs in a about 24lbs without any hardware installed. For the LX series be quiet! is offering the case in both black and white colorways, as you can see we received the white version. The normal Light Base 500 (non-LX) is only available in black and instead of the four Light Wings LX fans you’ll get four Pure Wings 3 fans.
Starting at the front of the case we do have a tempered glass panel that extends about 80% of the length of the case. This gives you a clear look into your system. Towards the bottom of the case there is a small be quiet! logo. Right below that you’ll find a pull-out filter which extends the entire length of the case.
The other 20% of the front of the case is interesting. There is an opening the allows air to flow more easily into the angled fans which are mounted inside the case. Next to that we have our front buttons and connections. From top to button there is a LED button for the fans, a USB 3.2 gen 2 type-C port, USB 3.2 gen 1 Type-A port, large power button, a second USB 3.2 gen 1 type-A port, headphone and microphone combo jack, and a small reset button.
Moving up to the top of the case we have a large ventilated panel. Pulling up on it, it can easily be removed. Once removed we can see a cooling mount. This mount supports either two 140mm fans or three 120mm fans and radiators up to 360mm. We can also see the clever way be quiet! has designed the side-cooling mount. It actually comes out from the top of the case. This allows you to easily install your fans outside of the case.
The main side panel of the case is a tempered glass panel and we do have a completely pillarless design so there are unobstructed views into the case. The opposite side panel is a steel panel which is pretty much all ventilated.
Moving around to the back of the case we can see that the case does have a dual-compartment design. So we have our motherboard mount and fan mount on one side and then our power supply mount on the other side. be quiet! has installed a fourth Light Wings LX 120mm fan on this rear fan mount. The mount does support both 120 or 140mm fans. be quiet! also includes a vertical GPU mounting bracket with the case, but of course you’ll have to provide your own riser cable.
