Final Thoughts on the be quiet! Light Base 500 LX Case
It is great to see be quiet! enter the compact mid-tower market and put out something that is a bit different. The thing I really like about this case is that it not only looks good, but it is thought out quite well too. Being someone that has used a compact mid tower for a few years now I know how the cooling can be and how certain aspects of cases just aren’t designed well.
Here we have that unique front intake design wit the angled fans. One this gives proper airflow in to the case, but also the angle provides better cooling to your graphics card. On top of that the three fans in the side mount and the rear fan are included with the case and come pre-wired to the controller. This controller is not only a fan controller, but also an ARGB controller so you can change the colors and effects of the fans using the button on the front of the case. There is also 360mm radiator support and I love that the fan-mount in the bottom of the case is recessed for a cleaner look and to make more room for thicker graphics cards.
Of course internally you can fit pretty much all modern hardware including ATX motherboards, long graphics cards (up to 400mm), and full-size ATX power supplies. It was also nice to see that we do get back-connect motherboard support here.
If anything I did feel that the storage installation was a bit harder than it needed to be. You have to fully remove the storage bracket (5 screws) and essentially unplug the fan and ARGB controller to get your storage installed.
Right now you can pick this case up in black for $144.90 with the white version carrying a premium at $154.90. Even at that price I feel you are getting a good deal considering the four included fans and the fan and ARGB controller that is included. Overall ThinkComputers gives the be quiet! Light Base 500 LX case a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
