As I said when I think of be quiet’s air coolers I like or the massive ones made for extreme cooling solutions, but not everyone needs something like that. The Pure Rock is a great entry level cooler, especially for someone who might be building their first system.
So if you’ve read my be quiet! CPU cooler reviews in the past I have really given them a hard time on their mounting systems, specifically for Intel. Most of the time I had to remove the motherboard completely from the system and installation took quite a long time. With the Pure Rock it has been made much more simple. I was able to install the cooler completely without have to remove the motherboard and I did the entire installation inside of my case with the graphics card installed! Installation really could have not been made any easier and that is great as many beginners might be using this cooler as it is more entry-level.
When it comes to performance I was quite surprised with the Pure Rock. It sat right in the middle of the air coolers we have tested over the past year, which is very respectful for an entry-level cooler. You could get even more out of this cooler if you added a second fan. On top of good performance the cooler is extremely quiet during operation, which is great as no one wants their computer to sound like it is about to take off when they are gaming.
The only real issue I have with this cooler is the pre-applied thermal paste. While this makes sense as this is an entry-level cooler, it makes it quite easy for debris to get on the base. This can cause the cooler to not have the correct contact with your CPU.
Right now you can find the Pure Rock for $34.90 online, which is a great price! Overall ThinkComputers gives the be quiet! Pure Rock a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
