G.SKILL Trident Z Royal DDR4-3200 16GB Memory Kit Review

Final Thoughts
G.SKILL really set the bar with their original Trident Z RGB memory and we really did not think they could top those modules, but they once again have proved us wrong. The Trident Z Royal memory is definitely the best looking RGB memory kit we’ve ever reviewed. The overall Trident Z look is great, but somehow G.SKILL made it even better! First they’ve replaced the original heatspreaders with polished aluminum heatspreaders, which have a mirror-like finish.

If they was not enough they replaced the normal light bar at the top of each module with a crystalline light bar. This by itself looks amazing, but just wait till you power on your system. It lights up with radiant RGB lighting and it is actually designed to disperse and refract light from the 8 RGB LEDs below. Talking about the RGB lighting each of the 8 RGB LEDs can be controlled individually and G.SKILL’s RGB software is quite good offering a lot of different options and effects.

Finally under the hood you have a custom 10-layer PCB with hand-screened memory ICs. This not only ensures great performance at the kit’s XMP profile setting, but also allows for a nice overclock. We were able to bring this kit up from 3200 MHz to 3600 MHz without touching the voltage or timings. That is very impressive!

These new kits from G.SKILL are definitely the must have RGB DDR4 kits of 2019. The kit we reviewed today (F4-3200C16D-16GTRS) is selling at our favorite online retailer for $199.99, which is about a $40 premium over the normal Trident Z RGB modules. Overall ThinkComputers gives the G.SKILL Trident Z Royal DDR4-3200 16GB Memory Kit a 10 out of 10 score and our Editor’s Choice Award!
