Chinese company GMKtec is preparing to release a new Mini-PC that uses a Ryzen processor and has a better cooling system. GMKtec already sells various AMD and Intel-based computers. Their most powerful Mini-PCs are in the K-series, with the K8 model offering up to a Ryzen 9 8945HS APU with a 65W TDP. This model includes a dual-fan cooling system and ranks among the most powerful PCs of its size.
GMKtec appears to have more products in development, with a new PC being hinted at on the Chinese social platform Weibo. The announcement indicates the upcoming launch of a 70W version. Based on the post title, which references “R9,” it is likely that this new system will be based on the Ryzen 9 8945HS, since the successor (Strix Point) uses the Ryzen AI 9 branding instead.
Although the company hasn’t confirmed the system specifications, it has revealed that the PC will use a vapor chamber for cooling. There is no indication of a secondary fan or liquid metal, which are features found in some competing products, but the vapor chamber is a distinctive addition in this niche market.
The PC is equipped with an OCuLink connector for external devices, including graphics cards. It also features dual 2.5GbE networking, USB ports, HDMI 2.1, and DP 2.0. Additional specifications are anticipated to be announced later, but no specific date has been given yet.
