Intel to Release X99 Chipset for High-End Desktops

As the year goes on we keep expecting a Haswell CPU series release from Intel. Most people expect this to happen around Computex time (June 4-8). With Haswell it is already been speculated that the platform will be called Z87 and will be the mid-range solution. This is old news and something that we have have known for quite some time. According to TweakTown the next generation of performance range CPU’s will be coming by the end of the year and not in 2014 as many people thought.

It is unclear whether these new performance CPU’s will be Ivy Bridge-E or if Intel is going to skip Ivy Bridge and go straight to Haswell-E. It is now known that the chipset powering these new performance CPU’s will be called X99. Little information is known about the X99 chipset, but as information comes in we will be sure to let you know.
