Lexar Play 2280 SE Gen4 Solid State Drive Overview
The Lexar Play 2280 SE is very much your standard M.2 2280 (as the product name states), or 80mm M.2 drive. So not only will this work in a PlayStation 5, but also any motherboard that supports M.2 2280 drives.
The drive itself comes with the heatsink pre-installed, which I feel is a good thing as this drive is targeted towards PlayStation 5 users. It is not like the heatsink is optional in their case. The heatsink is black with silver accents and looks quite good. There is a Lexar Play logo on the main side.
Flipping the drive over there is a “sled” on the bottom which provides even more cooling and we have a sticker with all of our information including the model number, serial number, and capacity.
The heatsink itself is your standard size so if you did plan on installing this drive on a motherboard you wouldn’t run into any clearance issues. There are thermal pads on both the top and bottom of the drive. You’ll find two screws on each side that allow you to remove the heatsink.

As I mentioned this drive features the InnoGrit IG5236 controller teamed with Longsys 3D TLC NAND and there is no flash chip so we would consider this a dram-less drive.
