Yesterday we posted some benchmarks of the R9 290X in 3DMark and 3DMark 11. In those tests we noted that the R9 290X was still beat by NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX Titan. Well the same source as those benchmarks has done a proper review of the R9 290X so now we not only have synthetic benchmarks, but actual game benchmarks as well!
In most of the tests the R9 290X trades blows with NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX Titan. This is pretty impressive as we know the R9 290X is supposed to be far less expensive than the GTX Titan. One thing that we can see from this review is that the R9 290X runs pretty hot at about 94C during a Furmark test! Also the power consumption is high as well, about 60W higher than the GTX Titan.

well I was always wonder how it will beat titan… now lets wait for titan ultra 🙂
once again look at the RAM on that R9 290x it is 5ghz when it is expected to launch with 6ghz-6.8ghz
It scores well but it’s bloomin hot, at least it forces the competition to respond if they want to keep a firm grip on the top dog slot.
