MSI MEG X570 Ace Motherboard Review

Final Thoughts

This will be the third X570 motherboard we’ve taken a look at and all three seem to be in the $300+ price range. This higher-tier price range seems to have many of the same features. The first being WiFi 6 802.11ax wireless networking. This is newer and faster networking is great if you don’t plan on “plugging in” and you also get Bluetooth 5.0. If you do plan on plugging in though this board comes equipped with dual Ethernet ports, one of which is 2.5 GbE and powered by the Realtek RTL8125 controller.

Since this is an X570 motherboard you are going to get PCI-Express 4.0, but this board has three PCI-Express M.2 slots, which you can load up with the latest PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs. All three of these M.2 slots come with integrated heatsinks and MSI has not made the bottom section of their board one piece. This means that you don’t need to remove everything just to install a single M.2 drive.

When it comes to power delivery this board makes use of a 12+2+1 all digital power design featuring the Infineon IR35021 digital PWM controller and titanium chokes. IN our testing we were able to get our Ryzen 9 3900X up to 4.3 GHz on all 12 cores, which is pretty impressive. Also having dual EPS connectors is nice to bring more stable power to the CPU. Both of the VRM heatsinks are connected by a heatpipe, which also connects to the chipset heatsink. This provides even better cooling for those power-hungry components.

MSI’s Click BIOS 5 is pretty easy to navigate, although we did find our mouse movements to be a little bit laggy. Also when we went to overclock in the BIOS our settings never seem to get applied. We would save our settings and then load into Windows and our system would be running at stock. Going back into the BIOS our settings were saved as our custom overclocking settings, it s quite frustrating. We couldn’t rectify this problem or find out why our settings were not being saved. So we ended up overclocking with the AMD Ryzen Master software. Hopefully both of the issues we faced get addressed in an upcoming BIOS update.

MSI has never been super-crazy with their RGB lighting, but it was cool to see an infinity window on a motherboard. This is the first time we’ve seen this in person and it does look pretty awesome! Of course you can control it with MSI’s Mystic Light software.

Right now this board is selling at our favorite online retailer for $369.99, which puts it at the top price range for the X570 boards we’ve taken a look at so far. I think it does tick all of the right boxes for an X570 motherboard, but I hope MSI can fix some of their BIOS issues in future updates. Overall ThinkComputers gives the MSI MEG X570 Ace Motherboard a 9 out of 10 score.
