New Copper Plate Mod Helps Lower Memory Temperature By 20% In GeForce RTX 30 GPUs

An interesting modification was made last month by DandyWorks in which the thermal pads for the memory of the RTX 3070 Ti graphics card were replaced by copper shims. This resulted in a 46°C lower memory temperature.

It is being noted that this isn’t a new modification, it has been around for quite some time now but has only surfaced popularly now because of high powered GPUs in the market. Copper can easily be applied to memory cooling. This can be done by ordering custom copper plates for your graphic cards. These custom plates can easily be made; there are a few companies in the market which are making a wide range of NVIDIA RTX 30 GPUs.

This is much simpler to see on a video as displayed by DandyWorks. Requiring a lot of cleaning and some thermal paste, this process can be made simpler. However, it is important to note here that once you decide to install your own custom copper plates, the warranty will no longer be valid.
