Nintendo Switch Overclocked to Run Games at a Solid 60 FPS!

A new video test has revealed that with some overclocking, the Nintendo Switch hardware is more than capable of running most games at 60 FPS.

A few days ago, YouTuber Naga shared a new extreme overclocking test, demonstrating how a modified Nintendo Switch system with 8GB of RAM, a CPU overclocked to 2703 MHz, a GPU to 1497 MHz, and RAM to 3033 MHz, can run games like GTA San Andreas, Red Dead Redemption, Monster Hunter Rise, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 at a steady 60 frames per second. However, an interesting exception is Dragon Quest XI S, which struggles to exceed 30-40 frames per second in most scenarios, even on an overclocked system.

Previous tests have shown that the Nintendo Switch is primarily limited by its 4GB of RAM, as increasing it to 8GB yields noticeable improvements. Since low RAM is also a significant issue for the Xbox Series S, the weakest current generation system, it is hoped that Nintendo’s next console won’t face the same limitation. Rumors suggest the new console will feature 12GB of RAM, which, along with NVIDIA DLSS support, should be sufficient to provide a solid 1080p experience.
