Gigabyte Introduces TRX50 AI TOP Motherboard For AMD Threadripper

At Computex last week, Gigabyte showed off new TRX50 AI TOP motherboard—TOP stands for trillions of operations per second—tailored for AMD’s Threadripper and Threadripper Pro CPUs. Now, the company has unveiled the complete specifications of the TRX50 AI TOP, revealing a feature-packed E-ATX board. It boasts four PCIe x16 slots, all supporting PCIe 5.0, though one may be limited to PCIe 4.0 based on the CPU used.

Additionally, it includes four NVMe M.2 slots with CPU-dependent functionality, eight DIMM slots (also CPU-dependent), two 10 Gbps Ethernet interfaces powered by Marvell AQtion AQC113C controllers, WiFi 7 via a Qualcomm QCNCM865 module, and dual audio chips for the rear ports and front panel audio.

As a 2024 model, USB4 is naturally included, though only one of the two USB4 ports supports DP Alt-mode due to a single DP input. The board features an internal USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20 Gbps) header for a case-mounted USB-C port, six rear 5 Gbps USB Type-A ports, and internal headers for an additional four 5 Gbps USB Type-A ports. It also includes four SATA ports, a 16+8+4 power phase design, a 14-layer PCB, a debug display, and easy release features for the M.2 drive heatsinks and the graphics card.
