OCZ RevoDrive 50GB PCI-E Solid State Drive Review

Testing – HDTune Pro
HDTune Pro is one of the most popular hard drive software suites available. It has many different benchmarks and tests built into it. Our first test is the read benchmark, which tests the average read speed and access time of the drive.

Very impressive results here, the RevoDrive received the highest ever recorded maximum and average read speeds for any hard drive we have ever tested with HDTune!  Next up is the write test.

hdtune write

Again very impressive scoring the highest maximum and average write speeds we have seen for any hard drive we have tested!

Since the release of HDTune 3.5 there has been a new Random Access test added to the software. This test measures the performance of random read and write operations. Tests are taken in 512b, 4KB, 64KB, 1MB, and random file sizes. The performance of the drive is reported in operations a second (IOPS), average access time and average speed. Here are both the results from the read and write random access tests.

The 4KB scores were good scoring in the 5-6K range, but lower than some of the other drives we have tested recently.  The final test we are going to run in HDTune is the File Benchmark.

hdtune file

Extremely impressive results here!  The read scored around 510MB/s and the write around 405MB/s.  These scores are once again the highest we have ever received for a hard drive!
