OneXPlayer has unveiled its latest eGPU solution, the OneXGPU 2, which features AMD’s Radeon RX 7800M “RDNA 3” GPU.

Previously, OneXPlayer introduced the OneXGPU, which showcased AMD’s Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU. This earlier eGPU stood out due to its sleek design, including active-fan cooling and RGB LEDs. It also supported PCIe M.2 SSDs and offered a range of I/O options, such as OCULINK, HDMI, DP, USB (Type-A and Type-C), and a LAN port.

OneXPlayer is now showing its upcoming eGPU, the OneXGPU 2, which will feature AMD’s Radeon RX 7800M “RDNA 3” GPU. While specific details about the eGPU are not yet available, it appears to be the first Navi 32-based solution aimed at the mobile market. Currently, AMD’s RDNA 3 mobile offerings include several Navi 33 models and one Navi 31 model, such as the Radeon RX 7900M, RX 7600M XT, RX 7600M, RX 7700S, and RX 7600S.

The Radeon RX 7900M is the entry-level GPU in the Navi 31 series, featuring 4608 cores. This is more than the desktop Radeon RX 7800 XT but fewer than the RX 7900 GRE. The Radeon RX 7700 XT represents the lowest configuration seen so far for the Navi 32 GPU, so the RX 7800M might have a similar core count. Additionally, the RX 7900M retains the 6 MCDs from the top Navi 31 dies, suggesting that the AMD Radeon RX 7800M could also feature a 256-bit memory interface and four MCDs.

Introducing the Radeon RX 7800M “RDNA 3” GPUs will be a much-anticipated and positive move, as AMD has had limited presence in the laptop market. Currently, only a few PCs feature AMD’s Radeon RX 7000M chips, while most laptops are equipped with NVIDIA’s RTX GPUs.

The AMD Radeon RX 7800M could be an effective mid-tier option for gaming laptops, offering strong performance if priced competitively. While OneXPlayer has not yet revealed the pricing or release date for the OneXGPU 2 eGPU, it is expected to launch later this quarter.
