Skittles has always followed the slogan ‘Taste The Rainbow’ but what if you could actually taste the flavor of various foods on a TV? Homie Miyashita, a Japanese professor has designed a protype lickable TV screen that will let you enjoy the taste of your favorite food that too within the comfort of your home, without going to expensive restaurants. The TR concept might be unsanitary and gross for many especially in the COVID-19 times.
The flavorful screen idea, called “Taste the TV” (TTTV), uses tanks of different flavors which are sprayed into a mixture to imitate all popular foods. The mixture is then applied onto a very hygienic film on the screen of the TV to be tried out. The invention could be of great use for cooks, critiques and food enthusiasts. A commercial version of this screen is expected to have a making cost of around 100000 yen($875). This makes it pretty much affordable. After all, it was designed with the idea that everyone could have one in their home.
“the goal is to make it possible for people to have the experience of something like eating at a restaurant on the other side of the world, even while staying at home.”
We will have to wait and watch if this concept actually realizes or remains a mere idea.
