The Nintendo Switch 2 is unlikely to be released before March 2025, as developers have reportedly been informed that it won’t launch during the current fiscal year. Chris Ding from GamesIndustry provided an update on the console’s release during a recent podcast. Around the 1:00 mark, he mentioned that none of the developers he has spoken with expect the Switch 2 to be released this fiscal year because they were advised not to anticipate it. Although some are hoping for an April or May release, the exact timing of the console’s launch is still unclear.
A delayed release for the Nintendo Switch 2 is concerning, especially since the system’s hardware has been ready for quite some time. Even people at NVIDIA are puzzled by the prolonged wait. The console was already expected to be somewhat outdated if it launched in 2024, and a 2025 release would only make the situation worse.
Releasing the console in the next fiscal year could allow the Japanese company more time to manufacture additional units, ensuring better availability in stores during its launch window, which has been a key priority for them.
