If you pre-ordered a Steam Deck and were expecting it for the holiday season you are out of luck as it has been delayed by two months to February 2022. Valve recently announced this stating, “we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.” Supply chain issues are nothing new as we’ve seen limited stock of graphics cards, CPUs, and other components over the past year.
For those who did pre-order the Steam Deck don’t worry you will still get yours, just in February now. Valve has said, “Based on our updated build estimates, Steam Deck will start shipping to customers February 2022. This will be the new start date of the reservation queue—all reservation holders keep their place in line but dates will shift back accordingly.
