Well today was the day of Apple’s “Let’s Talk iPhone” event and they announced the iPhone 4s. Many people were hoping for an iPhone 5, especially with the official release of iOS 5 looming, but instead we have the 4s. Apple is calling the iPhone 4s “The most amazing iPhone ever”, so let’s take a look at the new processor, new camera and some of the other new features. Also we have included a reaction video so read on for that!
So what are our thoughts on the iPhone 4s? Check out the video below where we go over the features of the new 4s and give you our thoughts.
The A5 Processor
The iPhone 4s will have the Apple A5 dual-core processor under the hood. This is the same processor that is in the iPad 2. This not only means better processing power, but also better graphics for games like Infinity Blade and the newly announced Infinity Blade 2. The processor is also more power efficient so you should see better battery life as well. Apple says the processor will deliver 2 times as much power and up to 7 times better graphics.
An 8-Megapixel Camera
Apple has upgraded the camera on the iPhone 4s. Now you have an 8-Megapixel camera, that is 60 percent more pixels than on the iPhone 4. The custom lens uses five precision elements to shape incoming light, which makes the entire image sharper. The larger f/2.4 aperture lets in more light, so photos look brighter and better. And the advanced hybrid infrared filter keeps out harmful IR light, so you’ll see more accurate and uniform colors. The camera also has facial recognition now, so it focuses on the most prominent face in the frame and balances exposure across up to 10 faces.
1080p Video
Apple has gone from 720p video on the iPhone 4 to 1080p video on the iPhone 4s. One big issue I had with my iPhone 4 was that many of the videos were very jittery. Apple fixes this with their video stabilization technology. 1080p video is shot at 30 frames per second.
World Phone
So now there will be only one iPhone 4s, not a GSM and a CMDA version. Apple has put both antennas inside the 4s. Did we also mention the 4s is now available on Sprint too!
Siri the Assistant
Apple purchased Siri, the company behind the popular Siri personal assiant app about a year ago. Now with the iPhone 4s Siri is built in to the phone itself. It looks like Apple has perfected the software as well as it can now learn your voice and it seems much more intelligent. You can use Siri to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. I would expect to see an API release possibly so other app developers can use Siri with their apps.

So that is the basic run-down of the new features in the iPhone 4s that are not in the current iPhone 4. What do you think of it? My honest opinion is while the new processor and camera are good upgrades, but they do not give me a good enough reason to go out and get the 4s since I have the 4 and I am pretty happy with it. For iPhone 4 users looking for something new just wait till the 12th when iOS 5 is officially released and you will have a lot of new features to play around with. iPhone 3GS users who were waiting, this is the time to upgrade. The iPhone 4s will definitely blow the socks off your 3GS.
The iPhone 4s will be available on all 3 carriers on October 14th and you will be able to preorder on the 7th. The 16GB version will be $199, 32GB $299 and 64GB will be $399.
