Apple iPod Nano 8GB (5th Generation) Review

iPod Nano Overview
If you are familiar with the 4th generation of the iPod Nano you will notice this version, the 5th generation is very similar. The first thing that should stand out is how sleek it looks. The casing is made of polished aluminum, which really makes the iPod look sleek. We received the black version, but the 5th generation is available in 8 other colors as well. The screen is pretty large on this iPod at 2.2-inches up from the 2.0-inch screen on the 4th generation.

Flipping the iPod over there is a large iPod and Apple logo on the back. The thing that is different about this iPod is that it has an included video camera and microphone on the back. This is the first iPod that has these features. The video camera is located towards the bottom of the iPod. For those wondering the video camera captures H.264 640 x 480 video a 30 fps with AAC audio.

On the top of the iPod there is a small slider that will lock the iPod so it does not accidentally play while in your pocket. At the bottom you have the dock connector and audio jack. It is pretty crazy that Apple can fit all of this inside such a small form factor.

If you want the specs on the iPod Nano you can check them out on Apple’s website, but the actual unit is only 3.6-inches tall and 1.5-inches wide with a thickness of only 0.24-inches. This small form factor makes it easy to fit inside of your pocket. It only weighs 1.28 ounces too so it is very light.
