MSI Radeon RX 5500 XT Gaming X Graphics Card Review

MSI Radeon RX 5500 XT Gaming X Overview

Taking a first look at the MSI Radeon RX 5500 XT Gaming X we can see that it has the same “Gaming X” design as the other RX 5000 series cards from MSI. I am a huge fan of this new design with its modern look and grey, black, and red colors. For those wondering about the size of the card it is 247 mm long.

The card makes use of MSI’s Twin Frozr 7 cooling solution which is made up of two cooling fans and large heatsink with multiple heatpipes. These fans are of course MSI’s Torx 3.0 fans, which feature both dispersion and traditional fan blades. The traditional fan blades create a focused airflow which in turn is pushed down by the dispersion fan blades for increased static pressure. These fans also feature MSI’s Zero Frozr technology, which means the fans will completely turn off when there is no load on the card.

Looking at the card from the side we can see those heatpipes coming out from the GPU baseplate. There is a small MSI Gaming logo on the side of the card, which will light up with RGB lighting when you have your system turned on. At the end of the card you have your power connection which is an 8-pin PCI-Express power connection.

Flipping the card over to the back we have a full-cover metal backplate which has the MSI logo on it. This is definitely one of the better backplates that we’ve seen on a RX 5000 series card.

Finally we come to our display outputs, which include three DisplayPort and a single HDMI.
