Board Channels, which collects data from major board partners, has reported that NVIDIA has notified its partners that this is the final chance to order the RTX 3060 series.
Companies such as Colorful and Palit have been told they can now place their last orders for this model.
Gamers should be aware that any market impact from this decision will be gradual. The final orders will be fulfilled over several months, as they are shipped in batches. Even after the RTX 3060 is discontinued, NVIDIA will continue to send orders to its partners, who will then supply the cards to retailers. Consequently, the full market impact may not be felt for several months.
Released in February 2021, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 has become one of the most favored GPUs. The Steam Survey shows that the RTX 3060 and the XX60 series are especially popular among gamers. Currently, the RTX 3060 holds a 5.9% share among all gamers who took part in the survey.
The RTX 3060 was initially released with 12GB of VRAM, an upgrade from the RTX 2060 specs. After over 1.5 years, NVIDIA introduced the RTX 3060 8GB, which featured less memory and was positioned as a more affordable option compared to the RTX 4060, which also came with 8GB of memory. It is currently speculated that both versions of the RTX 3060 are being discontinued, but there are no updates regarding the discontinuation of other RTX 30 models.
