SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD Overview
SanDisk is keeping the same look as we saw on the original Extreme Portable SSD, although it has been tweaked a bit. The drive is dark blue with orange accents. It has an IP55 water and dust resistant coating, which means it can survive splashes of water, but not immersion.
The first change I noticed about this drive compared to the original was the actual size. The Extreme Pro has official dimensions of 4.34″ x 2.26″ x 0.4″ compared to that of the original 1.95″ x 3.79″ x 0.35″. Even though it is larger it is still quite small and pocketable.
The next change that SanDisk has made is with the key-ring opening. Previously this was just plastic, but it has not been reinforced with metal. This ensures that if you have the Extreme Pro on a keyring it is not going to break off.
Flipping the drive over to the back we have a rubberized coating. This coating makes the drive easy to pickup and hold in your hand as well as stay in place on your desk.
There is a single connection on the drive, which is a USB Type-C connection. It is on the bottom-edge of the drive. SanDisk has moved the connection to the center of the drive as it was more towards the right on the previous version.
